The Gibson Nighthawk remains one of the most innovative and underrated electric guitars Gibson produced during the 1990s. Introduced in 1993, the Nighthawk was Gibson’s attempt to combine the warmth, sustain, and feel of a Les Paul with the versatility and ergonomics of Fender-style instruments — and over time these guitars have developed a strong cult following among players and collectors alike.
This 1994 example is an especially desirable Centennial-era model celebrating Gibson’s 100th Anniversary (1894–1994), featuring the commemorative “100 Years” headstock inlay and a beautifully figured flame maple top finished in a rich transparent amber burst.
Unlike traditional Gibson models, the Nighthawk features a unique slanted bridge pickup layout, versatile switching system, and lightweight comfortable body design capable of covering everything from classic rock and blues to fusion, studio session work, and articulate clean tones.
The figured maple top on this guitar is particularly elegant, displaying tight vintage-style flame throughout the body with tasteful aging and classic 1990s Gibson character. Gold hardware and refined appointments complete the upscale aesthetic.
Tonally, the guitar is exceptionally versatile with excellent sustain, clarity, articulate clean tones, and strong rock/blues response. The pickup configuration offers both Gibson-style warmth and brighter single-coil-inspired textures rarely found in traditional Gibson instruments.
Condition is excellent vintage condition with light cosmetic wear consistent with age. A very clean and well-preserved early Nighthawk example.
Includes premium G&G fitted hard shell case.
An increasingly collectible USA-made Gibson from the company’s Centennial period and one of the most unique production models Gibson released during the 1990s.
