This is the second of Michael Viteri's archtop guitars that we have been fortunate to have in the shop. The thing that immediately has stood out about both of these guitars is their excellent acoustic properties. This guitar has well-balanced tone across its full range. This continues on through into its equally well-balanced electric tone through the Kent Armstrong 12-pole floating humbucker.
The guitar is in excellent condition, both in aesthetics and playability. The parallel-braced top is carved from finely-grained spruce and the back from beautifully flamed maple, the sides being made from the same maple as the back. The binding is also made from the same flamed maple. The fretboard and bridge appear to be ebony while the pickguard and tailpiece appear primarily made of ebony. The side features a sound port for the player to better hear the guitar. Seen through this port is an overlay of custom artwork lining the side which was done by the owner/commissioner of the guitar.
The neck has a comfortable C-shaped carve and the frets show very little wear, appearing almost new. The guitar has wonderful playability and notes ring out clearly all over the fretboard.
