Selling a Tascam 244 Portastudio for parts. I had started repairing this unit, but I have a newborn and do not have the time to continue. If you have repair experience, I am hopeful it can get back running.

Below I will describe everything I know and do not know, but cannot guarantee this is a comprehensive diagnosis. For these reasons i am selling this "As Described" (no refunds)

What works

• The mixer section appears to be good, I tested all the inputs and pots are a bit scratchy and could use some Deoxit but pretty normal for these units.
• The cassette door opens and closes with proper spring & resistance
• VU Meters respond to signal (but bulbs are out)
• LED Counter, 4 channel record and record light all turn on

What's having issues (that I know of)

• VU Meter Lights are out (but the needles move fine)
• The physical transport buttons are all included, the stop button has fallen inward. The other buttons seem quite stiff and delicate. I would imagine these would need to be adjusted and refastened.
• The tape transport is not engaging. I replaced control belt and capstan belt but seems to be an issue with the tapeheads responding to transport buttons.
• It's also missing the pinch roller rubber which will need to be added
• The power cable has a raw spot near the plug, it has been closed with electrical tape
• Since the transport is not working I have not been able to test neither the PLAY/REC heads functionality nor FF/REW functionality from Idler tires
• Green cap on AUX 4 is missing, but rest of the knobs are there (including white switch tips (not shown in photo)

If you have any questions I will answer the best I can, rather than throwing you blind with a non-functioning unit I am trying to be as descriptive as I can be. I am pricing competitively with the hopes this can get repaired by someone more knowledgeable or used for parts.
