20+ years of insanity boiled down into one device. If you know you know.

  • Gain selected NOS Mullard OC73 germanium transistors
  • Superior grade componentry and passives
  • OG floating hand-cut Veroboard construction
  • Die cast hammertone 152 x 82 x 50mm rugged enclosure

Great sounding and looking highly collectable tone bender. These are tuned a little hotter so more fuzz the more you go like the OG's. The best espically if your running a clean amp, or channel. With the versatility in between. Breaking the rules with descent clean up as well. Mustard caps and Mullard transistors help maintain that familiar vintage sound.

D*A*M Professional MKII TD-05 - 20th year anniversary model celebrating the production of D*A*M manufactured Tone Bender Professional MKII's. Limited edition of only 45 pieces worldwide. The few units offered here are the last of the batch. Loaded with NOS ex-military Mullard/Philips OC73 germanium transistors that deliver all the gnarly delicious fuzzy chewiness of the OC75 semiconductor but offer excellent dynamic control and 'clean-up' capabilities at higher operating temperatures.

And so it began. In May 2004 I made the first ever D*A*M Professional MKII. I don't even recall why I had such an immediate fascination with the original Sola Sound made units. I wasn't particularly into the Page thing back then so I wasn't seeking the holy fuzz tone, so to speak - I probably listened to the Lucifer Rising soundtrack more than Zeppelin at that point, but I digress.

I think the DIY nature of the construction was the main draw. I was using matrix and vero-board myself at the time, so to see a 'production' pedal from back in the day using that same technology was a big 'fuck yeah' moment. The few folk I talked to about the pedal, Stuart Castledine being the sole target of my annoying questions, all erred towards the circuit being - a bitch to set-up - a super technical term there. For some reason, this made it all the more fascinating. There was something witchy and occult about the pedal, at least in my head. I always thought it looked kinda sinister too. Like a predatory thing, a sulking shark, or that it kinda looked like a Corvette Stingray!? Reference point - I was smoking a whole heap of marijuana at this point in my life.

Come January 2005 I had made 11 such D*A*M Professional MKII's. All one at a time. All a little different to the next. All had hand applied dry letter transfers for the graphics with different font types. By this time D*A*M was now 'my job' becoming an official happening in October 2004. The 12th D*A*M Professional MKII was the first with water slide decals (the all seeing eye models) April 2005 I started batch building them for export, Musictoyz in the US and Axe...and you shall receive in Canada being the first. It grew like a yummy fuzzy disease. In approx 2008 I drew the attention of Anthony Macari, because like a dumb f*ck I had 'Sola Sound Tone Bender Replica' as a subheading on the pedals. Derp. I graciously removed said stupidity. Some time later, he contacted me again to enquire if I would care to make the real deal for Sola Sound. You all know the answer I gave. In 2009 we began production of the D*A*M manufactured Sola Sound Tone Bender Professional MKII. The D*A*M Professional MKII was only produced en masse for the Japanese market after this point, until it was finally phased out in approx 2018. A handful of units through 2019-2020 were sold directly by myself.

The D*A*M Professional MKII TD-05 you see here is a celebration of those first few pedals that I created. It's a hail to 21 years of obsession and all consuming research, and 20 years of offering and re-birthing; in my humble opinion, one of the most musically dynamic fuzz pedals ever to grace this spinning ball of dirt.

Utilizing much of the same componentry and construction techniques that the original D*A*M units used, the TD-05 is the perfect balance of simplistic style and ruggedness of construction. Offering a mixture of select stringently tested NOS parts with a combination superior quality box fresh passive elements, the TD-05 delivers both longevity and superior sonic indulgence.
