The Gibson Firebird debuted in 1963, and was made famous the renowned guitarist Johnny Winter and designed by General Motors legendary designer Ray Dietrich. Gibson President Ted McCarty hired Dietrich to bring a more unique and radical design to the Gibson product line. The Firebird is the first Gibson solid-body to use neck-through construction, and the neck itself is made up of 5 ply's of mahogany layered with four narrow strips of walnut for added strength. Some of the other specific features of the Gibson Firebird are the reverse headstock and Banjo Tuners. The Firebird VII debuted in 1963, as the top of line Firebird model and features: Triple covered Gibson Firebird humbucking pickups, Maestro vibrola, Ebony Fretboard with Block Mother of Pearl Inlays, and Gold hardware.

This Firebird VII is in excellent condition and was purchased from the original owner. The fretboard and frets show very little signs of wear (See Photos).  There’s some normal surface scratches and swirls in the finish, and on the front left side wing there‘s a small nick (See Photos). This Firebird VII was just fully setup with D’Addario EXL110 10-46 strings and has nice low action.  It comes with the original Gibson USA hardcase and original case candy.
