This is a vintage 1984 Gibson Explorer III that we acquired from the original owner. Most Explorer’s from this era are usually really beat up with a bunch of finish checking, modifications, neck repairs, or and have a lot wear. This Explorer is none of these because it’s lived the majority of its life in its original Gibson Hardcase, and it’s in excellent overall condition and unmodified with very little signs of wear, especially for a 42 year old guitar (See Photos). There’s some very small marks, fine surfaces scratches, and very light finish checking, but there’s no cracks, deep scratches, dents, or dings (See Photos). The neck is straight with the perfect amount of relief; and this Explorer has wide low frets (Fretless Wonder) with minimal wear to the frets and fretboard. We completed a full setup on this Explorer with a brand new set of D’Addario EXL-110 strings and the guitar is easy to play with low consistent action.
If you’ve played a guitar with P-90 pickups before, then you know that they are so warm and full of tone, and this guitar is able to achieve an even more unique sound because it’s triple P-90 Pickups. The front switch controls the switching between the neck and bridge pickup just like a regular Explorer, and the back switch controls the middle pickup. If you have the back switch in the up position, the middle pickup is turned off. If the back switch is in the middle position, then the middle pickup is activated. If the back switch is in the down position, only the middle pickup is active, and the neck and bridge pickups are turned off.
This is one amazing playing and sounding Explorer and it comes with the original case which is in excellent condition and only has a few marks on it (See Photos). It also has the original Gibson transport card in the case too (See Photo). It was photographed with Schaller Aluminum locking strap buttons, and the original Gibson chrome strap buttons have been re-installed, and we included the Schaller Aluminum locking strap buttons in the case.
