For sale here is an original Höfner 173 electric guitar, built in 1962 and finished in brown vinyl. This guitar is a true "player": it was played often and with enthusiasm, though likely not much in recent years. Just try looking for an American guitar model (such as a Stratocaster) from around 1962—and check the price tag! They are highly sought-after, becoming increasingly rare, and are now virtually unaffordable! But do they really sound *that* much better? This Höfner 173 sounds great, plays perfectly, and all controls are fully functional: 2 single-coil pickups, 1 volume pot, 3 tone pots, and 3 on/off switches. ...The plastic parts have developed a lovely, natural yellowed patina. All chrome parts—including the tremolo arm—are in very good condition. Features a tremolo system and comes fitted with a new set of .009 gauge strings. Rosewood fretboard; the frets are in excellent condition and allow for perfect playability... It boasts a superb, perfectly low string action. The fretboard and neck are in very good condition—including the back of the neck. The 22 frets have been inspected, leveled, and polished.
You can get started with it right away—whether at home or on stage... Weight: a very light 3,280 g Only minor signs of wear and playing marks on the body... Minimal (intentional) hairline cracks in the neck lacquer. Chrome tremolo surround (style: '61/'62) This is a Höfner 172 that has been converted into a Höfner 173 featuring three pickups.
