DredgeTone AmpLess 2026 - Analog Amp Sim

This here pedal is the first in a limited series of stompboxes that I built to recreate some of the sounds of my younger days. I used a Tech21 SansAmp on the floor (yeah, pre-pedal board days) for many a year during my HKP days staring in 1989. The AmpLess circuit is based on the Tech21 SansAmp, but many of the parts have been changed to alter the tones available. And there are many tones available from this box. The differences start with a row of robust toggle switches instead of the mini dip switch unit. The next big one is that I changed the design to operate on +/-8V, eliminating the need for many of the usual low end cutting blocking capacitors needed when operating on a single sided supply. Another difference is that I ditched the usual TL072 OpAmp for a part created in the 21st century with much lower noise. The final major difference is that I used high voltage Film capacitors for all of the signal path capacitor components because they produce tones that I like better than what most ceramic caps produce. The original SansAmp used surface mount caps in the signal path, so the DT version will sound different. There is no internal battery connection inside and all units operate using standard, 9V, negative tip pedal power.

I built 5 of these stompboxes, and only 4 will be available for sale for now.

The electronics for these pedals are hand built and tested in Olympia WA.
