This OD –2 Turbo Over Drive is in very good condition and works 100%. It has the obvious signs of wear that you can see in the photos -- 100% normal wear for a BOSS pedal -- with the exception of a weird discoloration on one of the knobs which obviously does not affect the sound of a pedal at all.
The OD-2 uses discrete transistors to emulate tube amp distortion, packing a dual-voiced circuit that switches from a smooth, warm mid-focused crunch to a thick, fuzzy, high-gain 1980s lead boost.
This specific drive tone was famously favored by legendary players; Prince and The Edge (of U2) from the late 80s through the 90s!
The black label indicates that this pedal was built during the transition of BOSS manufacturing from Japan to Taiwan. This early 1989 model (serial number AA47937) retains the exact same discrete JFET transistor circuit design and tonal architecture as the original Japanese runs, delivering the highly sought-after vintage overdrive tone before the circuit was modified for later productions. For a collector this might be valuable because it is from that rare early Taiwan era.
For a regular guitar player: if you want the sound of a turbo overdrive grab this one it works perfectly and it looks pretty great.
