The Boss IR-2 is a compact amp simulator and cabinet impulse response (IR) loader that packs 11 premium amp models and Celestion Digital IRs into a standard Boss stompbox footprint. It allows you to plug directly into a PA system, a mixing board, or headphones, effectively replacing the need for a traditional amplifier.

• Celestion Digital IRs: Each amp model comes pre-paired with a carefully curated cabinet IR.
• Custom IR Loading: You can use the dedicated Boss IR-2 app (Mac/Windows) to load your own third-party impulse responses.
• Studio-Grade Quality: Operates at 32-bit floating-point processing and a 96 kHz sampling rate for highly expressive, touch-sensitive tones.
• Simple Controls: Features concentric knobs for immediate tweaking: Level/Ambience, Gain/Master, and a 3-band EQ (Bass/Middle/Treble).
• Two Channels: You can set up and toggle between two different amp and cab setups (using the onboard pedal or an external footswitch).
• Ambience Effect: Onboard "Ambience" control adds natural, spacious depth without needing a separate reverb pedal.

Connectivity

• Headphone Jack: Allows for silent practice.
• Stereo Effects Loop: Includes a send/return loop for placing your delay, reverb, or modulation effects directly after the amp emulation.
• USB-C Port: Functions as a 6-channel audio interface for recording directly into a DAW on your computer or smart device, and serves as the data port for IR loading.
• Stereo Outputs: Lets you send polished, wide stereo sounds to front-of-house (FOH) mixing boards.

Practical Uses

• Silent Practice: Connect your headphones and jam along to audio played from your computer or phone via the USB-C connection.
• Gigging: Send a studio-quality signal directly to the venue's PA. It takes the guesswork out of room acoustics and microphone placement.
• Recording: Plug the USB-C cable directly into your computer to record tracks without the latency or bulk of a separate audio interface.
