Rare Sonica synthesizer from 1979, designed by Los Angeles inventor Franklin Eventoff as a self-contained instrument intended to be intuitive and easy to play. Created during a period when disco was fading and punk had declared itself dead, the Sonica reflected a very specific late-’70s moment in music technology and was produced in limited numbers, with only about 650 made. Though it never became a commercial success, it went on to gain a cult following for its unusual design, historical significance, and playable character.
This may be the lowest numbered example ever surfaced for sale!
Over the years, Sonicas have surfaced in museums and private collections around the world, where they’re valued as both playable instruments and pieces of synth history. They’ve also been associated with well-known owners and users, including Eric Clapton and Donna Summer, adding to their mystique and collector appeal. Today, the Sonica is regarded as a rare and distinctive early synth with a strong legacy among collectors, musicians, and electronic instrument enthusiasts.
There is very light wear and tear on the casing, slight tarnishing on metal due to age, and a bit of blurring of the "fret markers".
Please, reach out with questions!! I can send a demo as well, lmk!
