Want to get Ringo snare sounds without Ringo prices? Here's your answer! This is a gorgeous early 1960s Ludwig Jazz Festival in beautiful Blue Sparkle, with a rare shell that is roughly 5-3/8" deep.

Built during a time of transition, this drum features a WFL-stamped P-83 strainer with Ludwig script-logo butt plate, and is drilled for a small-knob tone control (not included.) The position of the strainer just one panel to the right of the keystone badge is typical of this era (later drums would have an additional panel in between.) Interestingly, unlike the "three panel" config of most early '60s drums, the tone control mounting holes are positioned two panels to the left of the badge. I have another identical Blue Sparkle Jazz Fest from the same era with the exact same setup, so I think this must have been standard practice at the time.

Condition-wise, the drum is in fantastic shape for its age. There is some wear on the hardware (light pitting, some scratches and dents from usage) and a couple small imperfections in the wrap but overall nothing major and everything functions as it should.

I've used this drum on a couple of gigs and it's performed brilliantly. It sounds especially amazing with brushes, but will also do the '60s backbeat thing perfectly.
