After recently selling a 1993 Vintage Gibson Jimi Hendrix Hall of Fame Flying V on Reverb, we were lucky enough to acquire another one that’s in excellent condition. This one is from 1991, and it’s part of limited run of 400 guitars that were made from 1991 to 1993 to commemorate Jimi’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. This limited edition guitar is based on Jimi’s own Flying V that he ordered in 1969, and played at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970.  What’s really cool is that some of the luthiers who were tasked at Gibson to craft this limited run of guitars, would later go on to work in the Gibson Custom Shop in 1993, and these Flying V’s are exceptionally well made, and are just gorgeous. 

This Flying V is number 277 in the run of 400, is all original with no modification, and Is excellent condition (See Photos). It features a select mahogany body with a large ‘67 style pickguard with Gold Hendrix Signature.  This Flying V features a slim taper medium C profile mahogany neck with the long tapered headstock, sideways Gibson logo on the headstock, with a beautiful bound rosewood fretboard, with Trini Lopez style split diamond inlays, a Limited Edition numbered truss rod cover, and a ‘Hall of Fame Edition’ decal on the rear of the headstock.  

All the hardware is gold plated, it has Gibson Vintage Deluxe tuners, wired ABR-1 bridge, and stop tailpiece. The knobs are 60’s style Witch Hats with gold inserts.  The pickups  are Gibson Humbuckers with a 3-way switch, 2 volumes, and one tone control.  These Flying V’s were made prior to Gibson using a COA, and it comes with the original Gibson manual, lock setup instruction, Gibson transport card, and hard case that’s in excellent condition (See Photos). The lock on the case has never been set and is still 000.

This Flying V has spent most of its life in its case, according to previous owner when we acquired it.  It’s in excellent overall condition and plays and sounds fantastic. This Flying V has very little play wear, and we completed a full setup with a brand new set of D’Adarrio EXL110 10-46 strings (See Photos). There’s a couple very small scratches in few spots, a very small stand rub mark on the back of the neck, faint strap marks on the back, but no major dents, dings, and or deep scratches (See Photos). Some of the gold plated hardware has lightly faded with age and has a beautiful light patina (See Photos). The pickup outputs are were 8.1 ohms for the neck pickup and 8.2 ohms for the bridge.  The guitar weights in at 7 pounds 3 ounces.
