Michael Young is the industrial designer behind the aesthetic of the KEF LSX wireless speaker systems. His design philosophy emphasizes a sophisticated, minimalistic form that balances form and function, creating a sharp, pared-down aesthetic suitable for modern living spaces. The LSX speakers feature cabinets clad in luxury fabric from Danish manufacturer Kvadrat. This one specifically is Carbon Black. The design process involved extensive Finite Element Analysis to create a gently curved, acoustically optimized cabinet with constrained layer damping.

KEF speakers are primarily known for their Uni-Q concentric driver array, a technology that places the tweeter in the center of the midrange driver to create a single point source.  This design delivers wide, even sound dispersion and precise imaging, ensuring consistent audio quality. Specifically for the KEF LSX 1, this technology places a 19mm aluminum dome tweeter concentrically within the acoustic center of a 10cm magnesium/aluminum mid/bass cone, creating a single point source for improved stereo imaging and a wider listening sweet spot.  This driver configuration is a defining characteristic of the LSX 1
