Another winner from EBMM. This was my first Music Man guitar I ever bought/played and I was converted. I've since acquired a couple others that fit my needs a bit closer, so letting this one go to somebody who can make great use of it.
Previous owner had some really great mods done to it, and I contributed to the modifications by inverting the selector switch to give my right hand more room in the neck position. A quality of life improvement I will definitely do again. I put covers on both humbuckers, but preferred the neck without as I found it was getting in the way. Getting the cover back off the neck pickup was a bit of a challenge so expect some signs of soldering where there shouldn't be (whoops). Works perfectly though. See at the bottom for all modifications. (I still have the other matching neck pickup cover, and happy to include if you ask).
Guitar is in good working condition with scratches and dings throughout. I tried to photograph all the blemishes accurately. Happy to take more photos of anything, just ask.
Guitar will ship in an Ernie Ball Music Man "Cutlass" hard case. The case fits the silo well enough to ship it safely, but might not be ideal for continued use.
Previous mods done to the guitar are as follows (copy/pasted from their original listing):
-Pickups include two Dimarzio 36th Anniversary Humbuckers: Bridge and Neck models. One Dimarzio True Velvet middle pickup.
-One RS Guitar Works 500k volume pot.
-One RS Guitar Works .022uf 100V Vintage Paper In Oil Capacitor on Tone Knob
-Treble Bleed on Master Volume
- CTS 500k Push Pull Tone Pot
- Schaller Mega E+ Selector Switch
-New Rose Gold Sparkle Pickguard from WD Music.
The wiring is a little different than your standard HSH setup. I never use the middle pickup by itself so I wired it to get both humbuckers in third position or with the coil tap, bridge and neck both split to get that Tele middle position sound…which I find far more useful than just a middle strat pickup sound. With the Schaller Mega E+ switch you get: Bridge Humbucker position 1, Bridge split with Middle position 2, both Bridge and Neck (full humbucker) position 3, Neck split with Middle position 4, Neck humbucker position 5. All sounds are hum canceling.
When you pull the Push/Pull pot you get Bridge Split P1, Bridge Split with Middle P2, Neck and Bridge Spilt (tele middle sound) P3, Middle with Neck Split P4, Neck Split P5. I also wired the coil split sounds as a partial coil split, which is the PRS mod for coil tap sounds. It uses two different resistors when splitting the neck and bridge pickups. This mod keeps the volume of the split coil sounds almost the same as the humbucker volume so that there no huge volume differences between coil split and full humbucker modes. The split coil sounds are much more full and authentic.
