Rare 1970s Savannah " Grestch" Ridgeland S.C USA Dove Copy In Very Good Condition

Very rare Savannah Dove Dreadnaught. Built in the early 1970s by Fred Gretsch in Ridgeland S. C. U.S.A. after the sale of Gretsch Guitars in the late 1960s. It is stamped inside body Ridgeland S. C. USA but hard to see in picture. Once a builder always a builder. I think his idea was of entry level sought after acoustic guitar model that would stand the test of time. In this one he achieved exactly that. This guitar is a tank, a bruiser a heavy duty over-built copy of a Gibson Dove that ever was. Plywood laminate construction with over size bracing thur-out. ( see last 3 pictures ). Bolt on neck with a huge block of wood support at the heel and sound hole. Sound hole will never collapse, neck will never move and if it did it is easiely reset as a bolt on. Heavy in the hands at 4lbs 12oz. Suprisingly clear and articulate tone not to bassie with great projection. Turns out Mr. Fred Gretsch knew his stuff. As stated this is a entry level guitar and not on the same page of a high end Dove. It is in great shape, some wear on the fret board between 1 and 3 and some paint peel on top of the headstock. Other than that no real scratches, no chips, no cracks, no bulging body. Bridge is level and secure. New set of Ernie Ball 10s strings. Low action 2.75mm at the 12th fret and nearly all of it's adjustment left at the bridge saddle. Plays with ease. Original tuners are also beefy for the time period. 20 Frets all smooth on the ends showing lite wear with many years left to them. The adjustable bridge insert is not original and the metal insert is a little narrow so I installed a thin shim to keep it stable with no buzzing. Great collectable and just a great strummer. No reason this guitar will not see a hunderd years in age. Happy to answer any questions.
