Casio DH-100 Digital Horn/Midi Wind Controller

Released in 1988, the Casio DH-100 is a vintage, self-contained digital wind controller designed to mimic a saxophone but played with recorder-style fingering. It features six built-in sounds (sax, trumpet, synth reed, oboe, clarinet, flute), a built-in speaker, breath sensitivity, MIDI output, and portamento functionality.

Key Features and Specs:

Sounds: 6 built-in digitally synthesized voices.

Controls: Breath sensor (variable intensity), portamento button for sliding notes, and octave keys.

Interface: MIDI Out for controlling external synths, plus a 3.5mm headphone/line output.

Portability: Powered by 5 AA batteries or a DC adaptor.

Sound Production: Can be played with breath control or in a "key-only" mode.

The DH-100 is often noted for being easy to play even for non-saxophonists, making it a popular choice for sampling, MIDI work, and experimental music. This unit had the common "squeal" caused by capacitors repaired.

It still works great (using an old BOSS adaptor). The battery area looks clean. The seal around the mouthpiece was leaky, so I used some plastic wrap on it many years ago.

This was happily and gently used in my "ONE MAN BAND" in the garage. It's super fun using your blowing power to play the Baritone Sax thru the MIDI. Turn it up!

Includes the BOSS adapter I used and a red MIDI cable. HAVE FUN!
