Tokai Cat’s Eyes CE-300 Vintage MIJ Acoustic Guitar w/ Hard Case

Up for sale is a vintage Tokai Cat’s Eyes CE-300 acoustic guitar made in Japan by Tokai Gakki. These Cat’s Eyes acoustics have developed a strong reputation among MIJ enthusiasts for their excellent craftsmanship and impressive Martin-inspired construction.

This example features a classic dreadnought body with a beautifully aged spruce top and dark rosewood back and sides. The wood grain on the back is especially striking in person. It has the warm, balanced tone you’d expect from a well-aged Japanese acoustic with plenty of projection and a dry vintage character that records very well.

Just cleaned, restrung, and professionally set up with low action. Plays comfortably up and down the neck.

There is a finish crack on the top of the guitar as shown in the photos. Importantly, the crack appears to only be in the finish and does not go into the wood itself. Structurally the guitar is solid.

Cosmetically, the guitar shows normal vintage wear throughout including small scratches, dings, finish wear, and patina on the hardware consistent with age.

A very cool vintage Tokai acoustic with great woods, tasteful appointments, and the kind of build quality that made late-70s/early-80s Japanese acoustics so respected.
