1975 Gibson Les Paul Custom – Cherry Sunburst – Near Mint / Original Owner

I’m the original owner of this guitar. I purchased it in March 1975 and played it sporadically for weekend gigs for less than a year. Since then, it has been stored in my closets as I moved from place to place during my lifetime.

Guitar has all the original hardware and the original case. It has a “2” stamped near the serial number on the headstock indicating that it is a factory second due to a superficial crack in the varnish coat on the back (see photos). This blemish doesn’t affect the sound or function and it hasn’t changed in size or appearance over these past 51 years.

Amazingly, there isn’t a single scratch or ding on the finish with the exception of the imperfection in the varnish layer on the back mentioned above. The front and back shine like mirrors! Over the years, the pickup covers and bridge have tarnished slightly (see photos) and one end of the handle on the case is broken. I measured the weight at 9.7 pounds with my luggage scale and measured 9.9 pounds with my bathroom scale.

This 1975 Les Paul is in as close to brand-new condition as you will find since it has essentially been stored in a time capsule for 50 years!
