Personal Thoughts:
This is a really classy Murphy Lab Goldtop with some very unique and desireable checking - a nice example. A great take on the mid-’50s Les Paul formula. The ’56 spec is such a nice sweet spot, because you still get all the appeal of the Goldtop look and the lively, raw character of a P-90-loaded Les Paul, but with the added practicality of the ABR-1 and stop bar setup. That gives the guitar a slightly more familiar feel under the right hand while still keeping plenty of vintage attitude. The Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged treatment is a great fit for a Goldtop too, as it just softens the guitar visually and gives it a bit more of that broken-in vintage feel without overdoing it. A very desirable Custom Shop piece and one of those guitars that always feels elegant but still properly usable.
Condition Report:
Excellent condition. Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged finish is factory correct as part of the original spec. Presents exceptionally well overall, with no noteworthy wear to mention other then very minor playwear.
