Personal Thoughts:
This is a really desirable early aged R8 and one that sounds especially appealing. The standout feature here is clearly the top, because finding a ‘58 with an amazing flame top always gives the guitar a bit more visual pull than people normally expect from the model. In Cherry Sunburst it should look superb as well. I also think these earlier aged builds have their own appeal now, especially before the Murphy Lab era, because the ageing often feels a bit more tactile and broken-in in a different way to the newer finish work. That gives the guitar its own character rather than just feeling like another recent aged reissue. The ’58 platform is strong anyway, with the bigger neck, maple over mahogany construction and classic humbucker setup giving it that thick, open, authoritative Les Paul voice people go after in a good Historic. A very well-kept and very attractive Custom Shop piece.

Condition Report:
Excellent to mint condition. A very well-kept example with only the lightest signs of handling beyond the original factory ageing. Presents beautifully overall.
