Richmond VA Guitar Works Les Paul Slash Clone Early 2000's yellow/black burst

This listing is for an early 2000's Les Paul copy electric guitar by Guitar Works in Richmond, VA. Includes good condition Road Runner-type hard shell case.

Guitar Works was a boutique music store in Richmond, VA that sold its own line of acoustic and electric guitars, and amps. Regrettably, it closed in 2018.  Due to its direct connection with Korean guitar factories, Guitar Works was able to offer higher quality instruments at reasonable prices. Plus, each guitar was professionally inspected and set up at their Richmond shop. 

We picked up this guitar at an auction, and did our standard guitar clean up and check up. But we didn't stop there. We also decided to turn it into a Slash clone (or as close to it as we could get). So we:

• switched out the tuners from the original chrome to ivory.
• changed the pickup rings from the original black to ivory.
• added the ivory pickup switch plate.
• swapped out the original black speed knobs with the more appropriate dark amber top hat knobs.
• installed a new set of D'Addario NYXL 10/46 strings.

We think it looks better this way. And with a Gibson Slash Les Paul costing $2999, and an Epiphone Slash Les Paul costing about $799 used, this is an affordable way to get that style guitar.

To be clear, we're not claiming that this guitar is as good as an original Gibson or Epiphone. But we think it's a great option for the intermediate player who is looking for a guitar that would normally retail in the $500+ range. It's a great opportunity to buy a vintage guitar at a reasonable price, as opposed to the mass produced ones offered by the big-box and internet stores.  Or if you want a guitar the kinda looks like one Slash plays. : )

As far as the condition goes, this guitar is in nice condition for a 25 year old guitar. The neck is straight, the frets are in good shape, and all electronics work. Overall, the finish is clean, with no noticeable dents or chips. There is a little bit of buckle rash on the back of the body, and some surface scratches on the front. But none of the scratches go through the color to the wood. There is one place the finish was repaired. We've enclosed photos of those defects, but to be honest, you really can't notice them from a couple feet away. The case is a Road Runner-type plastic case. It's nearly new, with both the interior and exterior showing no significant wear. The lid does 'stick' a bit when you close it, but that doesn't effect the protection. Key is also provided.
