1987 Laney AOR Pro-Tube 100 — Custom Head Conversion, Fully Serviced
Made in England. Serial #1105 — early-production AOR series chassis from the era when these were Tony Iommi's main rig (Headless Cross, Tyr). 100 watts of EL34 British tube power, two channels, and the kind of cutting midrange that made the AOR series a cult favorite.
This one's been through my bench, rehoused properly, and tested in a real setup — pictured paired with a Marshall 2x12 cab where it sounded massive. It hasn't been gigged or road-used. Built carefully, treated carefully, ready for its next home.
Service work performed:
- Full electrolytic cap job with F&T (German-made, professional-grade)
- Power section retubed with Shuguang EL34s, apex-matched as a quad
- Biased to spec, tested under load
- Fully functional, no hum, no scratch, no issues
Cabinet conversion:
Original chassis was pulled from its combo years ago. New head shell built from white birch furniture grade ply, hand-finished in stained black. Original faceplate retained. The cabinet is essentially new construction.
Honest disclosures:
- Pilot indicator was upgraded to a blue LED. Required enlarging the original 5mm faceplate hole to 10mm. Permanent mod.
- Reverb tank is not installed. Reverb circuit is intact — drop in a $30 Accutronics tank to bring it back.
- No footswitch included.
- This is a converted combo, not a factory head. The chassis is original 1987 English production; the cabinet is mine.
Why I'm selling:
Apartment life. 100W of EL34 power deserves a room with a door, and I don't have one. Better it goes to someone who can actually crank it.
Shipping available — will pack tubes separately and double-box. Local pickup welcome (Maine).
Reasonable offers considered. No trades.
