Few names in the classical guitar world carry the weight of Jose Ramirez. For more than half a century, the Ramirez workshop produced instruments played by the greatest musicians of the modern era — Andrés Segovia, Chet Atkins, Sabicas, Sting, Lee Ritenour, and Christopher Parkening among them. This is one of those guitars.

Stamped internally with the initials of its maker, Carmelo Llerena Martinez ("CLL"), this instrument carries the full pedigree of Ramirez at its peak. The neck is comfortable with an easy, low action that defies the reputation many guitars of this period have for being difficult to play. It responds immediately and rewards the player.

Tonally, this guitar delivers everything Ramirez became legendary for: rich, full-bodied sound with a warmth and depth that feel almost orchestral. There's a clarity in the highs and a moody, resonance in the lows that simply cannot be replicated by modern production instruments. First-rate tonewoods and meticulous craftsmanship are evident in every detail.

Condition is excellent, structurally and cosmetically. There is one hairline crack in the back near the foot—barely visible and expertly repaired by a skilled luthier—along with minor cosmetic dings here and there.
