Premium F. Loree BK Series Oboe for Sale

I am offering for sale, my late husband's vintage 1955, F. Lorée Paris professional oboe with original fitted case and silver-plated keywork. It is marked "BK55" and F. Lorée Paris on multiple locations as shown in the photographs.

It previously belonged to a concert oboist. Its grenadilla wood body retains a flawless original finish, and is free of any cracks. Keywork is complete. It was serviced in January of 2025 by technicians at Notelmann Music Co. in St. Louis Missouri and has been stored in its case since then.

Their service ticket reads: "Disassembled - cleaned wooden body pieces - hand polished all keys; reassembled; adjusted several keys; replaced center tenon cork; replaced many key corks; oiled keys; play tested."

The velour lining of the case includes a label from the Chicago woodwind dealer, Edmund Nielsen. The absence of a zip-code on the address, an area code on the phone number but the presence of the quaint "WAbash" prefix on the phone number, set a date for the label to, at least, pre-1965.

The inner, hard case is protected by an outer, soft, carrying case with shoulder strap, zippered storage pocket and "F. Lorée Paris," leather, sewn-on label. The lining of this outer, soft case is made of faux lambswool fleece. There is a length of cotton cord in the pocket, that I assume is used to thread through the sections of the oboe to clean it.

The oboe comes with a small, hard carrying case containing three, hand-made reeds.
