Up for sale is a Rogers Holiday Headliner outfit in red onyx pearl with Cleveland and Dayton flat gray drums from the mid 60's.
Apologies for lifting this listing yesterday and then taking it right down. I made the mistake of relisting instead of cloning it. Bit of background. I have a small "Swingtime" set (hex cymbal rod on the bass) in the 20, 12, 14 configuration. I bought the 9x13 and 16x16 as I also like the 20, 13, 16 configuration a lot. I would just periodically substitute the larger tom using the same bass drum. Eventually, a Headliner bass drum (Knobby mount on bass for an 'L' arm cymbal holder) showed up in equally nice condition, so I went for it. Now I am selling the larger toms along with that Headliner bass drum. I'm keeping my smaller set because it has appropriate size SKB cases and I don't have that advantage with the larger toms.
Bass is a Cleveland 14x20, mounted 9x13 and 16x16 floor tom Dayton. All are flat gray Covington drums. Hardware includes the tom mounting arm, bass drum spurs and floor tom legs. In the photos of the kit set up, you’ll see the “Swingtime” bass drum, but there are also the original photos of the "Headliner" bass from my purchase of that drum here on Reverb.
These are all very nice drums. I've found no cracking of the wrap and seams are tight. Finish is bright. Chrome is nice too. Given the era, you'll find a nick here and there or a bit of corrosion, but overall very good/very nice. The rods on the bottom of the floor tom are from the next Dayton era so the shape of the rod head is not as square. The balance of the parts all appear to be appropriate to the flat gray Dayton era Rogers drums. The floor tom bottom bearing edge reinforcing ring and inside near the edge has scratches. However, the drum tunes well.
Also, the inlays on the bass drum hoops separated at the tacks and will need to be re-tacked and a complete set of washers is needed for the bass tension rods. Also, one rod is difficult to thread. Might be the thread, might be the swivel nut. Not sure.
Toms have original Rogers heads on the resonant side and replacement Remo Ambassadors on the batter sides. Bass has Cleveland heads. Someone colored in the "R" with a black marker (too bad, but it was probably to make it look like a newer drum). All heads have plenty of life remaining and are ready to go, though many drummers will want something different on at least the bass batter.
Fell free to ask any questions. The drums are already packed, but I'll do my best to give any description or photo I have.
Shipping is to the continental 48 US States only (excludes Alaska and Hawaii due to must higher cost). I do not ship internationally.
