This 1959 Rickenbacker Model 425 guitar is a fantastic player and has been preserved in very playable condition. There are some condition issues that are all disclosed. I'm certain this is a 1959 guitar because the pot code on the potentiometer dates to that time and the serial number of 4C134 correlates exactly to 1959 as well, as it is one of only 2 years in which these guitars had no serial number dating system in place at the Rickenbacker company.
The guitar has had previous modifications including some routing of the interior body work, the pickguard and mounting screws and the bridge cover are all replacement pieces. Tuners are original. The pickup works fantastic and sounds great but is wired to enhance the bigger classic Rickenbacker jangle sound. Switching it forward puts it in a treble mode that is thin sounding. The guitar plays superb and has an incredibly comfortable neck with a super fat Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The low profile frets have been groomed for optimal playing. Definitely sounds like that classic vintage Rickenbacker jangle. It is in perfect playing condition right now, but if desired, could be rewired back to specs.
The original rectangular case shown is included. Pictures include some with the travel case (included for extra cost.
Sold as-is with the modifications noted
This is likely one of the very first produced model 425 guitars.
