1972 Gibson SG Deluxe with hardshell case. Pickups are Burstbucker 2 and 3 from a 2022 Gibson Custom Shop Made2Measure. TonePros locking ABR-1 style bridge (posts factory drilled into body) and Gibson aluminum tailpiece. No structural repairs. The mahogany neck is straight and set up with 10s. Plays beautifully with a snappy response. Can get the action very low before fret buzz becomes a problem. Frets have light wear but no deep divots. Resonant one-piece mahogany body. Weighs 6.8 and has no neck dive issue or any other issues to sort out.

.

The clear coat has been stripped and refinished with a thin lacquer for everything but the headstock face. It was done well except the thin coat hasn't worn too pretty at some parts of the binding (pictured). The heel joint and neck volute look great and seem to be a little smoother than stock from the refinish. Low maintenance finish and the neck is fast and smooth. Measures .77" at the first fret and .93" at the 12th. Very easy playing neck with even string spacing that's just the right distance from the fret ends for vibrato. Barre chords are a breeze with the slightly thinner 1.58" nut width.

.

Converted to stop tail.. it was well done and the break angle at the bridge is good. There are some mounting holes left from the conversion. Original pickup rings (neck one has a repaired crack), pickguard and control plate (has a cracked corner, stabilized very well by a metal and plastic washer with longer #3 screw).

.

Parts changed:

-60s/70s USA milk bottle Grovers. I had about a dozen of these from different sets and chose six so that the D, G and B posts were a bit higher for a reduced break angle. Tuning stability is top notch. They've been cleaned/polished/regreased and turn smooth and precise.

-Custom Shop BB2 (unpotted) and BB3 (lightly potted) measuring at 7.3k and 8.3k.  They have nickel-silver base black covers inspired by the 70s Special aesthetic, installed with a thin layer of melted paraffin wax.

-control plate 'blacked out' with new 3-way switch, bell knobs and switchcraft jack

-new CTS pots for optimal tone and volume taper, wired 50s style with .022 caps. The pickup placement is about 3/4" further from the bridge than a modern batwing-guard SG. It makes for a warm Les Paul sound at the neck but not enough 'bite' for the bridge pickup with stock electronics. I used a 1040k tone pot for the bridge and 980k tone pot for the neck to 'brighten' things up a bit. All three positions sound fantastic and the bridge pickup still has a thick tone (and absolutely 'chugs' if that's your thing).

-Tonepros locking ABR-1 style bridge. The saddles should intonate well for anything from 8s to 11s (great intonation with 10s, with a little more room left for the G)

-nickel plated aluminum Gibson tailpiece

-nickel plated brass bridge posts, thick steel thumbwheels and steel tailpiece studs

-aged wide bevel truss rod cover

-low profile Gibson aluminum strap buttons

.

The guitar and case present well despite the wear, no bad odors. Kept in a clean, climate controlled environment (not where I took the listing photos). The guitar has no structural issues, plays really well, has new CTS and Gibson electronics but does have some wear to the thin finish which may not show in pictures. Though there are no significant dings or scratches to the back of the neck.
