Blonde Fender Stratocaster body (late 70s/eary 80s)--with new bonus photo!

Here I present a blonde Stratocaster body that probably dates between the late seventies and early eighties. That estimate is based on a few factors:

1. During that time, it was common practice at the Fender factory to use serial number decals as inspection tags. In this case, the tag reads 01 29 81. My sources make it clear that despite the resemblance to one, this number sequence is not a date. But the fact that it's there points to that period.

2. Also typical of that period is the wood type. This body is made of ash and weighs in, with no hardware, at 6.2 lbs. Being a little guy myself, I found the weight challenging. But if you're not a little guy--and if you want to get the particular tone that ash wood is known for--this may be the body you've been waiting for.

3. Finally, it's set up for the Micro-Tilt feature, which Fender has used during some periods and not others.

The body, as you see in the photos, has been used to make quite a lot of music, which has taken a toll on the finish. In fact, on the back, you'll notice a stripe of bare wood along the contour, although somebody seems to have clear-coated that blemish, as it is as smooth as the finish.

It looks like a past owner dug out the bridge pickup cavity to accommodate a double-coil pickup. But a single-coil still fits like a glove.

Having played this body for months, I can report confidently that none of its flaws affect play. It's simply an older body that has been put to much use.
