Introduced in 1958, the Fender Jazzmaster was launched for the jazz market, which was at the forefront of the music scene at the time. As a high-end model, it is also known as the first Fender model to feature a rosewood fingerboard. Contrary to Leo Fender's intentions, it was rarely used by jazz players, but it became widely used in surf rock, and subsequently gained an overwhelming presence in avant-garde scenes such as garage rock, grunge, indie/alternative rock, and shoegaze. This instrument is a sophisticated 1966 Jazzmaster in Olympic White. It features a small headstock with a transition logo, a maple neck manufactured in November 1965, an alder body, a round laminated rosewood fingerboard with binding and dot position markers, double-line Kluson Deluxe tuners, and a light tortoiseshell celluloid pickguard that perfectly matches the body color. The neck has a thin C-shape, is quarter-sawn, and the grain is biased towards the treble strings. Only one volume pot has been replaced; the tone pot, 0.03μF "Red Dime" capacitor, two preset pots, 0.02μF "Red Dime" capacitor, gray bobbin pickups, and other major electronic components are original. While possessing the lively and light "Jazzmaster" sound character, this instrument produces a rich, resonant acoustic tone and crisp, clear single notes. A slight compression is pleasing, producing a good, clear sound. The neck is in good condition, including truss rod adjustment. There are signs of use commensurate with its age, such as weather checking in the paint, small scratches, and dents, but these all contribute to its excellent character and give it a cool, aged look. This beautiful instrument, featuring binding and dot position markers only seen in mid-1966, is not to be missed. It comes with the original black Tolex hard case and tremolo arm.
