Fender American Original '60s Jaguar in 3-Color Sunburst with rosewood fretboard
The Fender American Original '60s Series is a direct successor to the American Vintage Reissue (AVRI) line, serving as as a curated, "best-of" compilation representing the general specifications of the entire 1960s decade.
While the body and electronics of the AO '60s Jaguar are identical to the AVRI '62 model, the AO introduces an angled neck pocket for better break angle without the need to shim and a neck aligned to '65-66 specs with a more playable 9.5" radius neck that includes edge binding and Perloid inlays (the 62 had clay dot inlay and no binding). American Original 60s Jaguars have become highly sought after because the neck shape, sound, and overall feel capture the spirit of a great vintage Jaguar.
Condition
Condition is Very Good. The guitar functions perfectly and remains completely authentic and stock. It has some honest cosmetic wear including minor dings, scratches, and natural finish wear consistent with nitro lacquer. There is also some wear along the bottom neck binding. Overall, it presents beautifully and has developed an excellent broken-in vintage look and vibe that really suits this model.
The guitar has been properly setup with the original vintage-style bridge and bridge cover installed, with excellent intonation at the time of listing. I can assure you that the vintage bridge actually works great once it is setup, and that's already taken care of. It plays comfortably up and down the neck and sounds exactly like a proper Jaguar should: articulate, percussive, resonant, and harmonically rich.
This is not the instrument for the super-strat player who wants ultra-low string action—it excels as an incredible vintage vibe machine. Currently strung with premium Pyramid flatwound strings for authentic surf-era and early-'60s tones — tight low end, smooth feel, and that unmistakable woody Jaguar attack.
If you prefer a little more brightness and chime while retaining the flatwound feel and balance, I highly recommend swapping only the top 3 strings to pure nickel roundwounds. It’s a great “best of both worlds” setup for these guitars.
This is one of those guitars that immediately inspires ideas and makes you want to keep playing. An instant classic that will become somebody’s favorite. I'm looking for that somebody.
