Vintage Roland RE-201 Space Echo, serial 974639, MIJ circa September ’80 AMAZING!

  • Very good condition
  • Fully functional
  • Sounds incredible
  • Comes with its original Roland cleaning kit

This unit sounds great. Clean faceplate (minor cosmetic scratches) and controls, tolex in very good shape aside from minor scuffs on the front panel, the interior is clean with the slightest bit of tarnish if you inspect polished aluminum parts closely. All pots, jacks, and switches work smoothly, no snaps, crackles or pops. The motor runs quiet and stable; the tape path is clean, and echo repeats are strong, warm, and lush with that unmistakable Space Echo character. Reverb tank sounds full and balanced. The preamp section has balls to spare, can add lots of color if that's your angle...

This is the classic Space Echo sound heard on countless records from Pink Floyd to King Tubby—smooth, organic repeats with that slightly unpredictable analog magic that digital units never fully capture. I bought this one in Tokyo, it has no known performance issues.

It will be well-packed and fully insured. Local pickup welcome.
