For your consideration is this 1971 Gibson ES-175 weighing in at 6.8 lbs. This is a nice example of a player's caliber vintage guitar. Overall it's in really great shape but does exhibit typical wear for a guitar of its age. The sound, action and playability is fantastic with no fret wear. There are a few upgrades. The frets were replaced with Jumbos and play excellently and the pickups were replaced with Gibson Classic 57s and sound wonderful. In my estimation, this guitar is completely solid and structurally sound with no significant structural cracking. There is a small ding as can be seen in photo #10 and there are some cosmetic only checking cracks as can be seen in photo #11. The back of the neck is very smooth with no dings or rough patches. The two pickups are wired out of phase with each other when the toggle is in the middle position. I don't know if this was intentional or not. This is the way I received the guitar. This can be easily reversed of course.
About me: I purchased this guitar as it is here with the new frets and 57 pickups 6 years ago from a very reputable guitar dealer who supplied me with most of the above information. I'm a rock player who intended to get into jazz guitar but it never happened. The guitar has been sitting in its case (which is the original case I was told) most of this time. I've decided the jazz thing will likely never happen for me, hence I am selling this classic and beautiful guitar. The guitar will be securely shipped in its case within 3 layers of boxes.
Purchase with confidence. I stand behind everything I sell. If you find the item to be defective or not as described within 3 days of receiving it, you may return it for a full refund and I will also pay your return shipping. I ship fast! Happy shopping!
