1973 Fender Precision Bass - Natural Ash. Up for sale is a 1973 Fender Precision Bass. Neck serial number corresponds to body and is original. 0103 4523 indicates 6/11/1973. This bass is the epitome of early 70s CBS-era "mojo"—it has been played, loved, and naturally aged to perfection. It boasts a "very good" vintage condition, offering that iconic, punchy P-Bass tone with incredible resonance and a comfortable, broken-in feel. Professional Appraisal complete, October of 2026.

Key Features & Condition Details:

  • Body: It is apparent, from paint left in both the neck, pickup, and control cavity, that this bass was originally a sunburst finish. It was sanded to wood and poly finished, showing gorgeous grain. The finish exhibits natural wear, including some minor dings and "buckle rash" on the back.
  • Neck & Fretboard: One-piece maple neck with a comfortable '70s "C" shape profile. The neck is straight and the fretboard is in excellent shape, offering smooth playability. Frets show some moderate wear but have plenty of life left.
  • Electronics: Output jack has been replaced. Additional grounds were added to the control unit. Both controls and pickups are original delivering that unmistakable 1973 warmth and midrange punch.
  • Hardware: Original Fender-stamped tuners, bridge with straight barrel saddles, and "F" neck plate. All hardware shows a natural, aging tarnish that adds to its vintage aesthetic.
  • Playability: Professionally set up, this bass plays smoothly with low action and a thick, resonant tone.
  • Case: Includes an older hard case. The inside is fine and the latches work but the leather carry handle is broken. As an alternative, the purchaser may request a new generic case at no extra charge. ($100 value.)

This 1973 Precision Bass is a fantastic example for a player or serious collector wanting a genuine, high-quality instrument from this era. It has all the charm and sonic characteristics that players look for in early 70s Fenders.
