The Fender Jaguar JG-66 is a reissue of the classic 1962 model, produced during Fender Japan's highly regarded Fujigen era. This 1993 example features the traditional dual-circuit switching system: upper plate controls (rhythm circuit on/off, volume and tone rollers) and lower plate slide switches (lead pickup selectors plus bass-cut "strangle" switch). The 24" short scale makes it one of Fender's most comfortable offset guitars.

Sound and Tone
The JG-Single Alnico pickups deliver bright, articulate Jaguar tone. The rhythm circuit provides warmer, darker rhythm tones. The "strangle" switch cuts bass for a thinner, trebly voice. The 24" short scale adds natural compression and snap.
Feel and Playability
The 24" short scale reduces string tension and finger stretch. The 7.25" radius and slab rosewood board offer classic vintage feel. No fretwear ensures smooth playability. The floating tremolo allows subtle pitch bends or deep dives with the lock button for tuning stability.
Condition
Excellent condition. An exceptionally well-preserved example from the Fujigen era. Body finish vibrant and clean. A few minor dings and light surface scratches on the bottom edge. No major chips or buckle rash. No visible fretwear. Frets retain full height. Straight neck. Dark rosewood board offers like-new playability. Chrome hardware shiny, no significant oxidation. Electronics fully functional. Meticulously cared for over 30 years.
Background
The Fender Jaguar was introduced in 1962 as Fender's top-of-the-line model. The JG-66 reissue series began in the mid-1980s and continued through the 1990s. The N-series (1993-1994) instruments from Fujigen are considered part of Fender Japan's golden era, with build quality rivaling American production.
Famous Jaguar Players
Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) famously used a modified Jaguar. Other notable players include John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Tom Verlaine (Television), Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine), Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), and Rowland S. Howard (The Birthday Party).
