This is a rare opportunity for the consummate Steve Vai fan. I have the #1217'st JEM ever made, from the first year production in 1987. This is Desert Yellow, which have mostly been already squirreled into collections.

Overall the condition is above most that I have seen for sale out there, but this is a 40 year old guitar. The neck plate has some wear, and the cover for the back of the vibrato is gone (common for players at the time).

There is one small ding on the body that is very difficult to photograph because you really have to be looking for it. I just tested the electronics and they work. The neck is rock solid straight, and these necks are really special. The later guitars got thicker, and these are really thin. The bottom four frets are scalloped on these guitars.

The case is rough, like really rough that got left in the basement for 20 years. I got it like that. Clearly the guitar was not in it as it weathered. But hey it's the original case at least, and it doesn't really smell.

You may never see another one of these available again from the first year.
