These were developed after years of testing over 140 sets of Strat pickups and working with small winders across the country to create something balanced, dynamic, and inspiring without the harsh top-end most modern pickups have.

We chose a winder in Nebraska to work exclusively with Proper Pickups.

The Alnico 2 & 5 hybrid magnet recipe gives these insane clarity, warmth, balance, and touch sensitivity. Shimmering cleans, vocal mids, woody character, and enough bite when you dig in without ever sounding ice-picky. The 5.9k wind helps to give these a sweet edge.

You’d easily spend $375+ from the Duncan Custom Shop or other boutique builders for this level of quality.

The included 220pf treble bleed keeps your volume control lively and musical at lower settings, while the .033 PIO cap gives the tone controls a super usable and musical sweep.

Alternatively, you may purchase the Proper Passive Tone Control system for $79 more. Your tone controls start at 0 and end at 10. Everything from Mayer to SRV is in there. No batteries, ever. Positions 2 and 4 are just as dynamic as 1,3,5.
