The best fuzz pedal that has ever come out in my opinion. It certainly is the best that Sovtek/Electro-Harmonix ever put out, and they had a few nice ones to say the least. I priced it this way because that's what it would take to take it from my Arsenal. I know it's not cheap. I get it. I don't even like selling it at this price, I probably shouldn't even be selling at all.
I also love how these sound on the bass guitar. Extremely versatile between a "fuzz" and a "distortion" pedal.
It is not loud with wah pedals! It also stacks great with other pedals especially boost pedals. I run a Boost after it, not before it, when I play it, which isn't often anymore. It sounds so good, I don't want to play it, lol.
I guess I just want it to last forever.
No crazy hissing and screaming with wah's. The footswitch feels like new, and the pots feel like new. I put new hockey puck plastic knobs on it. It comes with the original knobs. Never repaired, all stock. It was checked thoroughly by a professional.
The reason why the paint job on these looks horrible, is because they used a defective primer in the paint. Electro harmonixs later corrected their bad paint. Proco, the company that made the Rat pedal used to do the same. This pedal actually hasn't been used anywhere near what it appears to look like. You have my word on that. It doesn't have its battery door either but that's nothing new on these. I believe they make 3D printed ones now you can put on it. It has Velcro on the bottom. These are actually one of the strongest pedals I've ever seen. These are not anything like the older New York USA Big Muffs from 70' and 80's. These are built much much better. The Russians cut corners, but not where it counted, that I can tell you. I would find it hard to believe there's a better sounding Civil War than mine. They could be a bit inconsistent between each pedal. Even if these pedals came out during the same week, they could sound slightly different from one another. I believe I got lucky. I couldnt care less whether I sell this or not.
Fwiw, I sent this pedal to Alchemy Audio for Johnny to look at it..I think he's the best in the game as far as repairing old vintage pedals, it has a completely clean bill of health. All the Jacks and everything have been cleaned. (If you ever have a Vintage Pedal, or any pedal for that matter, that you want repaired or modded, send it to Alchemy Audio. I don't think he works on certain pedals like Strymon's, and things like that, but he can do an awfully lot. Just give him an email and he will respond quickly. ALCHEMY AUDIO
