Up for sale is a rare, high-performance example of mid-80s Japanese luthierie: the Fernandes BSV-70 "The Function". While its silhouette screams 80s shred, this 1985 model (Serial L039372) is a "wolf in sheep's clothing" tonally.

Because of its 24" scale length, it shares the same tactile DNA and comfortable string tension as a high-end Fender Jaguar. It plays with a surprising warmth and "bloom" that you wouldn't expect from a locking-tremolo instrument, making it as capable of moody, atmospheric textures as it is high-gain leads.

Technical Specifications

Condition & Restoration

This guitar has just received a full professional setup and is in excellent vintage condition.

• Maintenance: The nut clamps and screws have been replaced for a perfect fit and reliable tuning. I have also installed a genuine Floyd Rose 1000 Series string retainer bar to ensure the correct break angle and maximum sustain.

• Playability: The action is low and buttery, the frets have been polished, and the intonation is spot-on.

• Aesthetics: Normal light wear consistent with 40 years of careful use. No major chips or structural issues.

Why This Instrument?

The BSV-70 is increasingly desirable for players who want the comfort of a Fender Jaguar or Mustang scale but need the stability of a locking system. Finding one with the original "Electric Sound Research Group" logo and the proprietary recessed jack intact is rare.

It holds its own against vintage Ibanez Roadstar, Aria Pro II, or Greco builds, but with a unique short-scale warmth that makes it stand out in a mix.
