Greco BM-900 Brian May Project Series from 1978, manufactured in Japan at the renowned FujiGen factory during the famous lawsuit era — a period when Japanese builders produced instruments of exceptional quality, often rivaling or surpassing their Western counterparts.
The BM-900 was part of Greco’s special Brian May Project Series, inspired by the legendary Red Special used by Queen guitarist Brian May. In the late-1970s Greco catalogue this model was positioned in the higher tier of the lineup, reflecting its high build quality and premium materials typical for top Japanese instruments of that period.
This guitar features a distinctive design and a versatile electronics system. The switch configuration allows independent pickup activation and phase switching, providing a wide range of tonal combinations – from clear vintage tones to the distinctive out-of-phase sounds associated with Brian May’s signature style. It’s a very unique instrument that stands apart from typical designs such as Stratocaster or Les Paul – both visually and sonically.
It has body scratches, little bumps and other signs of use. Frets have plenty of life left. Please refer to photos. It ships in its original hard shell case with very nice Greco bag and other goodies. Local pickup is available in Santa Ana, CA. Please feel free to ask any questions and thank you for looking.
