Pendletone Effects King’s Road Overdrive – Hand-Built Bluesbreaker-Style Overdrive

King’s Road is a light-gain overdrive for players who want an edge-of-breakup sound as the foundation of their rig.

Its tonal direction is inspired by the familiar low-gain character associated with the classic Bluesbreaker pedal, but King’s Road is not presented as an exact clone or circuit recreation.

The Gain control starts clean and moves through lightly driven textures before reaching a crisp, gritty maximum. It stays firmly in overdrive territory rather than becoming a full distortion pedal.

King’s Road is especially useful as an always-on drive. It preserves more of your guitar and amplifier’s existing tonal balance than overdrives built around a pronounced midrange push. The Tone control offers a straightforward sweep from darker to brighter, making it easy to match the pedal to different guitars and rigs.

The pedal also responds clearly to pickup output. Single-coils generally keep it closer to its cleaner, edge-of-breakup side, while humbuckers push it harder into grit. Roll back the guitar’s volume control and King’s Road cleans up well.

It also works comfortably in stacked-gain setups, whether placed before or after many other overdrive pedals. The Volume control reaches unity easily and provides additional output for pushing an amplifier or the next pedal in the chain.

Each King’s Road is hand assembled by Chris in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, using through-hole components on a professionally manufactured PCB.

Every pedal is individually tested before leaving the bench. Each production unit is also hand dated, serialized, and signed.

Four-year limited warranty

King’s Road includes a four-year limited warranty for the original purchaser, beginning on the original purchase date. Proof of purchase is required.

The warranty covers manufacturing defects. It does not cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, incorrect power, modification, accidents, moisture, environmental exposure, or normal wear.

The customer is responsible for shipping the pedal to Pendletone Effects for evaluation. For an approved claim, Pendletone Effects will repair or replace the pedal at its discretion and cover shipping back to the customer.
