The Boss GM-800 is a guitar synthesizer sound module that uses the Serial GK interface with a GK-5 divided pickup (sold separately). It runs on the ZEN-Core engine with over 1200 tones including pianos, organs, orchestral sounds, and Roland synth classics like JUPITER-8 and JUNO-106. Scenes combine up to four tone parts plus a rhythm part, with per-part MFX offering over 90 effect types, scene effects, chorus/delay, reverb, and master comp/EQ.
Tracking is fast and stable thanks to a dedicated high-speed processor, with adjustable velocity and feel settings for different sounds. You can layer tones, assign them to specific strings or fret ranges, and switch between continuous pitch or chromatic modes. It doubles as a MIDI sound module via USB or 5-pin MIDI, and supports Guitar-to-MIDI output for external gear. Four footswitches and external CTL/EXP jacks handle live control.
Compact enough for pedalboards, it connects via Serial GK for chaining units. Requires a divided pickup and Serial GK cable to function with guitar.
