2000 Godin Multiac ACS (Non-SA) – Nylon-String Hybrid – Serial #00165251
This is a 2000 Godin Multiac ACS (Non-SA / no MIDI) — a true Canadian-made instrument from Quebec’s Godin Guitars. The Multiac series launched in the early 1990s and quickly stormed the entertainment industry by giving nylon-string players a feedback-free, stage-ready guitar that could handle high volumes in bands, theaters, and studios. Daryl Stuermer (Genesis / Phil Collins), jazz-fusion greats like Sylvain Luc, and soon after players like Kirk Hammett (Metallica).
ACS stands for “Acoustic Solid” — Godin’s clever hybrid design that blends the warm tone and playability of a classical nylon-string guitar with a chambered solid-body construction for excellent feedback resistance and stage reliability.
What “chambered” means: Godin starts with a solid piece of silver leaf maple and strategically carves out internal chambers. This reduces weight, improves resonance and sustain, and gives the guitar that quick, articulate snap and immediate response. It has a solid cedar top and is finished in a rich mahogany-like stain.
It has no 13-pin MIDI/Synth Access, but features a high-quality balanced XLR output that draws phantom power for a pristine studio signal, plus the standard 1/4" output. That XLR output is a real advantage for both studio and live performances — it delivers a clean, professional, balanced analog signal straight into the console or stage box with no extra DI box needed. In this age of digital modeling and tech-heavy gear, that warm, direct analog sound is becoming a quickly disappearing quality that many professionals still seek.
In many ways, this guitar plays like a classical acoustic version of a Fender Telecaster. Professionals have long loved Teles for their solid-body stability, immediate response, excellent stage presence, and ability to cut through a mix with control and minimal feedback. This Multiac ACS offers that same kind of reliable, stage-ready confidence and snap — but with warm, expressive nylon-string tone and acoustic projection.
This guitar has been a pure studio instrument its entire life — never gigged at all. I had it professionally refretted and the electronics refreshed (new battery compartment, etc.) at Mike Lull’s shop in Redmond for $500. These instruments don’t come out of the factory playing and feeling this good.
There is some minor surface wear (light finish checking and a few small marks from careful home/studio use) and slight play wear on the fretboard and back of the neck, but no cracks, major dings, or repairs. All electronics, hardware, and the new frets are in excellent working order. The neck is straight with a standard classical width (approximately 1.9" at the nut), and the guitar stays in tune well.
All around, this is a high-quality instrument — warm, articulate nylon tone with good projection and the classic Godin feedback resistance. You can judge a good instrument by how well it holds up over many years, and this one is a classic that’s barely broken in and ready to continue preserving its analog-superior sound. Perfect for studio recording, fingerstyle, jazz, or any situation where you want a reliable, great-playing nylon-string acoustic-electric.
I’ve loved this guitar, but I’m getting ready to travel for a while and must lighten my load. I think this old Godin is thinking the same thing — take her on the road with you, she’s more than ready for your next gig.
Comes with the original Godin hardshell case (and Mike Lull receipts).
Shipping: Calculated shipping via Reverb (buyer pays exact cost based on their location). The guitar will ship safely in its original hardshell case, inside a Reverb guitar box, for maximum protection.
