A rare c. 1923 vintage pro C Melody saxophone made by Holton of the USA. It is burnished gold plating on the body and keys - their nicest finish package - and Is in amazing condition for its age, with no significant dents or repairs. Plating is about 95%, with straight tone holes and some interesting extra keywork: Alt G#, Alt high Eb, and Alt forked Eb (which I've closed but can be opened and used if you like). The pearls and rollers are a beautiful abalone looking pearl material - very stylish!
Its been disassembled, cleaned, tarnish-dipped, hand ragged, swedged and countersunk (to tighten the mechanism) posts aligned, tone holes leveled, rods trued, all tan leather pads (with dark plastic resos) installed, key/neck corks and felts replaced, reassembled and adjusted for optimal play-ability. The horn is a sweet player, with a husky, mellow voice, good intonation, and comfortable key work: would be a good horn for Trad Jazz, Church, Theater... anywhere you'd like to read concert charts! I'm very pleased with the condition and play-ability of this saxophone. I corked this neck for a tenor mpc, but it comes with the original cool, metal faced C mouthpiece, and you could sand the neck cork if you'd prefer that vintage sound!
