Excellent condition. USA-made. 2020 model (2020 build date). The label reads "J-185" and this is the "Standard" or "Original" (retail is $4309 out the door).  Absolutely gorgeous grain all-solid premium wood (see pictures). Includes original hard-shell case (OHSC). Frets in perfect condition, Neck is perfectly straight. Factory-installed, award-winning L.R. Baggs VTC pickup system, revered for studio and live use. From a clean, smoke-free home.

Note that is the J-185 Original or Standard. Most sites give this guitar a "Platinum" rating/ review.

I have owned and played a number of J-100, SJ-200, and J-185, and this is the best sounding I have found of them all. Rich, deep sound, excellent deep lows and singing highs. Great overtones and cutting mids. Clearer than the J-200 I owned, sound is near perfect in terms of clarity and string separation.

Gorgeous AAA-rated Flame Maple (premium) back and sides (not laminate). Nice grained AAA-rated Solid Sitka Spruce top with beautifully tight grain. Both the Spruce and the Flame Maple have a nice chatoyancy (3D illusion/ "cat's eye" light refraction effect). The neck is also Flame Maple with a rosewood skunk stripe. Gorgeous deep, dark rosewood fretboard (no marks) and classic J-185 bridge. The grain and flame 3D effect on the back is quite amazing.

The guitar could used some polish, but I don't see swirl marks, dents, or any real scratches (though there may be light surface scratches, nothing I could photograph or see).

Cross-listed and listed locally, and will take down the listing if it sells on another platform.

The J-185 is believed by many to be one of Gibson's best acoustic instruments, yet it seems to be fairly obscure, much to the delight of devoted Gibson lovers. Originally released in the early 1950s and designed to be slighty smaller than its larger companion, the SJ-200, the Gibosn J-185 still offers superior performance and tone. The J-185 Original maintains unsurpassed balance of lows, mids and highs, with equal response to every note on the fretboard. The Gibson J-185 Original acoustic-electric is acclaimed by many as the perfect body size and shape for any player.
