Here we have the Electro-Harmonix "Black Russian" Big Muff Pi distortion/sustainer fuzz pedal. This is the legendary late 90s "transition edition" (V8) produced in St. Petersburg, Russia. It was the final run of SOVTEK branded models before production shifted to the U.S.

Key Features & Specs

• Enclosure: A "small box" black metal chassis, often found in a "6-screw" or "4-screw" configuration on the bottom plate.
• Graphics: Characterized by distinct yellow or gold-toned "Big Muff" lettering and a simpler design compared to the earlier "Bubble Font" versions.
• Sound Profile: Known for a massive low-end and a "woollier" texture compared to modern reissues. It typically has more presence and mid-range than vintage USA models, making it cut through a live mix effectively.
• Power: Originally battery-powered (9V) only, though many units found today have been modified with a standard 9V DC jack.
• Tested by our technicians. Works as it is supposed to.
• Cosmetically: The unit has a small 1/2 inch blemish in the finish under the volume control knob (pictured). Other than that, it is in VERY good condition.

Gordy's Music has become a Detroit institution! Our shop was used as a filming location for a few films like "Miracle in Motor City" a Christmas movie on Lifetime (featuring Smoky Robinson). We've supplied gear for movies including "Bill & Ted Face The Music" with Keanu Reeves. We've got decades of celebrity customers, including recent visits from Beck, Eric Johnson, and we recently sold Billy Joel's bassist a cool Gibson SG he is in love with. One day a while back Andre 3000 and his group stopped in to browse as they were playing Masonic Temple that night and right after that we sold an old oil can Morley Wah Vibrato pedal to Credence Clearwater Revival's thee John Fogerty!
