The Real Deal: 1959 Shure 55S "Small" Unidyne
Up for sale is a genuine piece of American audio history. This Shure 55S was manufactured in Evanston, Illinois, in the 48th week of 1959 (Serial: 5948v). Unlike modern reissues, this is an original 1950s unit with the legendary tone and build quality that made Shure famous. Tested it and it works. (Plugged it into and amp speaker and talked)
Lining: The original internal blue silk is present but shows its age with a grayish patina and some small tears/holes. This is typical for a mic of this vintage and does not affect the sound.
Stand: Includes the original height-adjustable chrome floor stand. It is heavy, stable, and adjusts
Connection: Includes the original threaded cable ending in a 1/4" jack—ready to plug into a guitar amp or PA system.
Cosmetics: The chrome body is in good vintage condition with minor surface wear consistent with age.
