Early 1965 Gibson SG Junior with a Cherry finish in very good condition. It has nickel parts, a wide 43 mm nut, and is all original. Supplied in a period-correct hard case.
This Guitar has some small scuffs and dings in the finish, mainly around the edges of the body, as well as lacquer checking. The headstock has a few scuffs along the top edge. The back of the neck is fairly clean overall, and the frets are in excellent condition, having been cleaned up in our workshop and still have plenty of life left in them. It’s the perfect guitar for a wide, fat tonal palette that will keep up with the big hitters...
The hardware and plastics are in good condition, and the guitar stays in tune well. Fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of D'Addario strings. Serial number: 313603. Weight: 5 lbs 5 oz / 2.41 kg. Nut width: 42.8 mm. Depth at the 1st fret: 21 mm. The pots are dated to 1965.
The Gibson SG Junior was introduced in 1960. The budget model of the new SG line quickly became a rock and roll workhorse. These were fitted with a dog ear P-90 pickup on a resonant, lightweight mahogany body. Matched with a stud wrap tailpiece, the clarity, punch and power made these a favourite of the indie crowd.
