Ampex 351 Microphone Preamplifier, Ampex Transformer, Tube, 1950s - 1960s

Ampex 351 electronics in beautiful physical condition. Have not powered it on. I got this from my tech, he owed me one. To my knowledge it is all original except for a few caps that you can see have been replaced. Stunning condition overall. I was going to do the mic preamp conversion, but just dont need another preamp. This is the second 351 Ive owned, and I’ve had 2 350s, as well. This is by far the cleanest unit Ive had in my possession. None of my others had been converted into standalone mic preamps and were nonetheless the most gorgeous sounding mic amps I’ve ever owned. Big, full, immediate. the selenium rectifier looks like it was made yesterday. Includes the AMPEX iron you want. Perfect for converting, or re-building a tape machine, or using without converting. Has the blue PCBs which my tech has told me are the better, more stable boards.

I HAVE NOT TURNED THIS ON. I imagine it will fire right up, per past experience, but cannot guarantee. Ive not built the power cable but have a new old stock connector jack i am sending with it. It’s likely you’ll want to convert it to IEC. Sold as-is. Please ask questions.
