Thanks for checking out this listing. This is a MTL-style, Jubilee-style two channel 50-watt guitar amplifier head built by myself (DeVito amplification) on EvolveDIY's MTL "Merlin Metal" PCB board. I built this amplifier several years ago and it has just been collecting dust with super low use time and it deserves to be used and abused! I build my own designs now anyway :-)

Some info about the build:

  • 50 watt output with twin JJ E34L tubes. 5 preamp tubes. Although its output transformer is "only" 50 watts, it actually has a 100-watt power transformer (over powered, should last a long time... ). Both are from Ceriatone.
  • These are sold today on the EvolveDIY site as "Merlin Metal" PCBs. The build I did and values I used are based on the famous MTL from Wizard Amplification.
  • Zero-loss Metro-style FX loop.
  • Stainless laser cut chassis with professionally-done faceplates.
  • Excellent cabinet custom made by Mojotone in the US. Mesa-style tolex.
  • High quality parts throughout with everything selected for maximum lifespan.

About the amp itself:

  • The amp has two channels, each with a toggled boost. Lead and Rhythm. Shared EQ with a master volume and per-channel volume. The Lead channel has dual gain controls, Saturation and Lead Gain, and a Brightness knob on the back. Presence + Depth controls on the front. High + Low inputs, classic Marshall style.
  • This amp has an incredible amount of gain on the lead channel.
  • I did some modifications to the rhythm channel. This amp has a rather infamously bland channel one in the stock configuration. My mods increased the gain, clarity, and volume balance.
  • There is a load resistor on the output of the amp that is OUT of the circuit when a cabinet is plugged into the jack labeled "USE FIRST". Always use that jack first. It is to protect the amp's transformers only in the case of a user forgetting to plug in a cabinet and NOT for cab-less "silent recording" etc.

I want to make sure any buyer notices a slight annoyance which is that the front bottom lip slightly covers some front panel text :( always bugged me. It's also very heavy :-)

Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for looking.
